Well it was a most delightful run of endless sunshine, but our multi-day streak has been closed by a claustrophobic cover of clouds. Conditions on the mountain top are still quite splendid regardless, at least for the time being. There is only a slight chance of rain showers later this afternoon. Hopefully the clouds cooperate to afford guests a rewarding sunset after a day on the trail. Temps have been slow to creep out of the 50s today after yesterday’s high reached a soaring 71°. After today, the holiday weekend is calling for some not-so-barbecue-appropriate weather. Saturday afternoon sees an increase in storm percentages and doesn’t appear to go away anytime soon given the extended forecast. So soak up whatever sun where you can and when you can while we have it, and come packed and layered up for some wet conditions across the Smokies. Temps should continue to bounce between the 50s and 60s with light winds.
Have a great rest of the day.
