The clouds can’t make up their mind this morning, whether they want to tease us with grand views to the north, or sock us in like a thick soup. Either way, the storms are coming and once they land later this morning, the mountain should be witnessing wet and windy weather well into Thursday. Depending on how heavy the localized rainfall is, count on creeks swelling a bit as the day rolls on. Sounds like even some hail could be possible with this system. Guests with reservations tonight would be wise to hit the trail early today to beat the atmospheric turbulence. Temps will continue to be mild in the 50s. Winds could gust upwards of 35mph later tonight. The Mountain Laurel are really starting to show out around Inspiration Point, and the Catawba Rhododendron are in fine form between there and Gracie’s Pulpit half way up the trail. Always enjoyable to see the wave of summer colors ascend the mountain.
Have a great day.
