Happy Friday the 13th. What started out as a sunny spectacular morning on the mountain has transitioned over to a wall of clouds. Our splendid streak of steady sunshine and pleasant skies has finally drawn to a close. Sometime this afternoon our first round of rain showers and thunderstorms will arrive. Now through Monday the weather pattern will be a bit more chaotic, with chances for storms scattered throughout. Temps will remain fairly consistent with where we’ve been though, hovering between the upper 40s and lower 60s. Not much is expected in terms of winds. Come prepared for the conditions if you’re set on visiting the mountain this weekend.
We got our first real taste of the season of bear activity in camp yesterday afternoon. A decent sized youngin’ nosing around the uphill side of lodge grounds. Remember to report any suspicious activity involving bears and other large wildlife to the NPS, and especially our staff if occurring near the lodge or backcountry shelter. It’s important we all take the necessary steps to protect ourselves and the wildlife. This is their home after all.
Have a great day.
