The great “spring tease” continues, as delightfully warm temperatures and satisfyingly splendid sunny skies keep spoiling the Smokies. The air is clear once again today and the views are limitless. We managed to reach 48° yesterday and had a low around freezing during the night. We are expecting a high up in the 50s today, a sure sign that winter is losing its grip on the region with each passing day. Winds are light with the occasional gust.
Trail conditions are in fairly decent shape, and are gradually drying out after all that precip last week. There are a few icy patches in the shaded places closer to the top, but can easily be avoided with the need for traction devices. Daffodils have been popping up in the lowlands for a while now, with some of spring’s first bloomers sure to be waking up in the park. Get out and enjoy that sunshine while we have it!
