While the lowest elevations of the park begin seeing vibrant colors as early as March, with lush vegetation boasting bright and bustling displays all spring and summer long, it’s not until late July that the heights of Mt. LeConte can finally join the party. Once the calendar slides into early August, the lodge grounds and even select patches partway down the approach trails have filled out fully, their eye-catching yellows, pinks, and whites all serving as reminders that life still thrives in the Smokies even as the autumnal equinox nears week by week. Throw in some sunny skies like we’ve been able to enjoy of late, and all that natural beauty of the landscape glows a little extra.
Speaking of sunshine, we are expecting stellar skies once again today. Any winds will be light, any clouds few in frequency, with temps holding firm in their mid 50s to mid 60s range. Tuesday is setup to start out nicely as well, but there is the potential for some passing showers in the afternoon. The same can be said for Wednesday at this point. So consider throwing that rain shell or umbrella into your pack just in case precip comes to fruition these next few days.
Have a great day.
