Thick clouds spilling over the crest of the Smokies from NC have the summit socked in this morning, but hopefully the open and sunny skies on the TN side find their way to us at some point today. That likely means views will occur in greater abundance on trails like Rainbow Falls and Bull Head than they will on Alum Cave or Boulevard. Weekend warriors and folks in town for the holiday are already out taking advantage of the unseasonably pleasant weather. Popular trails, drives, and visitor centers are bound to be quite congested today given how dreary tomorrow and Monday are shaping up to be. Temps will be in the upper 50s this afternoon then dip to the 40s tonight as clouds, winds, and rain all roll in. Gusts of 30mph are expected with wet conditions persisting from early Sunday through the front half of Veterans Day. So have that rain gear ready for staying dry on trail over the coming days.
Beginning this Sunday, overnight guests will be served supper at 6:00 PM in conjunction with an earlier occurring sunset. This will be the last service time change of the season with only 2.5 weeks remaining. Breakfast is still at 8:00 AM, which is well after sunrise now, and gift shop hours are still 9:00-10:00 AM and 12:00-4:30 PM.
Have a great day.
