It was another abnormally hot day in the mountains once again. Clouds at varying elevations swarmed the slopes, peaks, and valleys all morning and were slow to lift, creating some absolutely stunning scenery. But once the ceiling opened up and the sun shined in, the temps and humidity rose quickly. So not only has it felt like June recently, but when the trees are now leafless, those bright and toasty rays can more easily cook hikers trekking on southern facing sections of trail. We anticipate one more day just like it on Saturday before the rain chances ramp up late tomorrow evening. Temps at the summit will continue to hold in the 40s and 50s regardless of what precip comes about. Expect busy park roads and trails to start the holiday weekend, and load up on the hydration and nourishment. Odds are high that visitors to the region will take advantage of the nice weather Saturday and leave the indoor activities for Sunday.
Have a great day.
