We’ve made it through the persistent winds of the last couple days. Conditions across the mountains are much calmer today than they have been, especially atop Mt. LeConte where gusts near 50mph and continually misting clouds had become the norm since the weekend. Our cap cloud appears to have finally lifted this morning and we’re looking out over East Tennessee beneath overcast skies. Now and through the coming holiday weekend there are going to be slight rain chances for the lodge just about every day. So nobody should come equipped without the appropriate gear for staying dry. The warm start to November is slated to continue, which no arguments here as we march through these final three weeks of the 100th season. Temps will keep hovering between 40s and 50s along the crest. It will feel great in the sun, but cool in the shade or with a strong breeze. Traffic on trail and at relevant parking lots have decreased in volume and intensity this week, typical once the leaf change nears conclusion, but this mild start to the month and approaching holiday will likely see another substantial surge in visitation.
Have a great day.
