Skies are slowly but surely calming down after some turbulent weather that’s been occurring since yesterday afternoon. Several storms produced heavy localized rainfall in parts of the park and nearby gateway communities causing some unplanned flooding. Aside from a couple straggling rain showers this morning, conditions should improve throughout the day, transitioning from cloudy to clearer skies. Bank on trails being wet from top to bottom today, and please be sure to report any new hazards that may have appeared during the night, such as downed trees or displaced soil along roads or trails. We should have some decent weather now until mid week when precip chances return. Temps are also taking a step down the scale and won’t be as oppressive, only reaching the lower 60s at the lodge and 80s down below. These sour skies might cause some folks to delay or scrap their plans in the park today, but being the last leg of the Labor Day Weekend, still count on plenty of traffic congestion at the typical popular spots.
Have a great day.
