We’re waking up to our own little cap cloud, as are many of the Smokies’ higher peaks this morning. Once the sun gains some height in the sky we should see the veil clear off, at least some anyways. Later this afternoon the precip chances and storms will rev up. So get an early start if you can and keep an eye on the sky for changing conditions as the hours tick by. Temps will be in the 60s up top with light winds. Wednesday is calling for a greater possibility of rain throughout the day so far.
The coneflower are really filling in nicely now. These next couple weeks will see the grounds of the lodge in their most vivid color for the entire year. And it only gets better as the white snakeroot fill in the gaps among the gold and green. There isn’t much purple monkshood to enjoy this year, courtesy of the local deer, and a couple Turks cap lilies managed to achieve beautiful blooms without being noticed by the four-legged munchers.
Have a great day.
