It’s officially summer and today marks the longest stretch of daylight from sunup to sundown for the year. A tantalizing sunrise greets folks once again this morning high atop the Smokies, full of orange and lavender streaks on the horizon. Now that the much warmer temps have returned, the views aren’t as clear though with the haze settling in. The lodge nearly tapped 70° yesterday afternoon in the unabated sunshine, and will most likely surpass it today. Another code orange Air Quality Alert has been issued for the region this Tuesday. Visitors can expect mostly sunny skies today and tomorrow with only light winds. Enjoy the sunshine, stay hydrated, and soak up what should be a glorious day on the mountain.
